次就林處以顯涅槃，先別、後結。別中有四：一寄八樹表彰八修；二因此眾生護娑羅林，令諸弟子學之護法；三因四王護娑羅林，即令護法；四以此林華果常茂能益眾生，表己能益聲聞諸眾。「以是」下結。

Next, [the text] reveals nirvāṇa in terms of the grove; first [treating it] specifically, and then concluding. Within the specific treatment, there are four points: first, using the eight trees to symbolize the eight cultivations; second, taking the occasion of sentient beings protecting the sāla grove to cause the disciples to learn from them and protect the Dharma; third, taking the occasion of the four heavenly kings protecting the sāla grove to immediately cause them to protect the Dharma; fourth, using the grove's flowers and fruits being ever flourishing and able to benefit sentient beings to symbolize that he himself is able to benefit the multitude of śrāvakas. From "For this..." onward, it concludes.
