From here below is the fourth [section], revealing the Dharma with reference to this. The text has four parts: First, citing what was asked. It profoundly reproves those who dispute as having inverted causes and conditions and failing to attain right view, and therefore being unable to benefit themselves and benefit others. Second, explaining that because he accords with beings, he cannot make determinate statements. Third, "The ten directions..." and below adduces others to analogize with himself. Therein, it first explains that because all buddhas transform beings differently, they speak the twelve [divisions of scripture]; next, that the twelve are for others and not for oneself; below, it concludes that the buddhas' speaking differently in accordance with understanding is called possessing the power of understanding. Fourth, the Buddha himself manifests that because he fully possesses the two powers of faculties and understanding, he knows whether persons in the present and future will sever roots of wholesomeness and attain liberation. It first cites the two powers, next analyzes them, and then concludes. Because he fully possesses the two powers, he is named "malla" [strong man].
