Below, the Buddha answers him; first explaining non-abiding, and then displaying his desire to depart. In explaining non-abiding, there are twenty-seven repetitions in all; the text broadly reveals non-abiding, which in essence can be subsumed under four: First, one repetition uses principle to rebuke him in return: "All dharmas are without abiding; how can you ask me to abide?" Second, from "Whenever one speaks of abiding..." onward, there are six repetitions, broadly explaining that the Tathāgata's faults of abiding are forever exhausted, so one should not request him to abide. Third, from "Now, the one who does not abide is called the Boundless Body..." onward, there are twelve repetitions, broadly explaining that the Tathāgata is fully endowed with the virtue of non-abiding, so one should not request him to abide. Fourth, from "If anyone says that evil deeds of body, speech, and mind yield good fruits..." onward, there are eight repetitions, broadly citing all things that are ultimately non-existent to reveal the Buddha's non-abiding; first broadly citing them, and then comparing them to the Buddha.
