三「如地」下，明惑性滅不假慧破。「如地堅」等，立喻顯法，明其四大各有自性，非因緣作。「如四大」下，約之顯法，明惑自斷，不由智慧。「若是斷」下，徵破由慧。「以是義」下，結慧不破。

Third, from "Like the earth..." downward, it clarifies that the nature of delusion is cessation and does not rely on wisdom's destruction. "Like the earth's hardness..." and so forth sets up similes to illustrate the doctrine, clarifying that each of the four great elements has its own nature and is not produced by causes and conditions. From "Like the four great elements..." downward, it applies them to illustrate the doctrine, clarifying that delusion is severed of itself and does not depend on wisdom. From "If this severance..." downward, it interrogates and refutes that it depends on wisdom. From "For this reason..." downward, it concludes that wisdom does not destroy [them].
