In what is cultivated in the causal stage, first it is discriminated, next concluded, and then its name is explained. Within the discrimination there are two parts: first, using words to reveal the real, causing people to enter; second, from "the Tathāgata, approaching nirvāṇa, expediently turns" onward, wiping away words to reveal quiescence, causing people to abandon attachments. In the former there are three parts: first, contemplating the four truths; second, from "one who knows conventional truth is named intermediate wisdom" onward, explaining the contemplation of the two truths; third, from "Mañjuśrī said to the Buddha: 'What is the meaning of the so-called real truth?'" onward, explaining the contemplation of the single reality. Contemplating these three tiers explains the practice of wisdom; this is indeed the sequence of entry into contemplation.
