From "Kāśyapa said..." onward is the third, contemplating the fruits of outflows, also with two questions and answers. Within this first question and answer there are also two parts: first, explaining the fruit of retribution; next, explaining the fruit of habituation. Regarding the three kinds of suffering and three kinds of impermanence within the fruit of retribution, there are two interpretations: One says that the three kinds of suffering are the suffering of suffering, the suffering of conditioning, and the suffering of deterioration; the three kinds of impermanence are: first, arising and ceasing; second, flux; third, the great period [of a lifetime]. The second says that this refers to the three realms as the three kinds of suffering; the three kinds of impermanence mean that the three realms are all impermanent.
