1.26

何者？昔託王宮而生為凡始，道場樹下成道為凡終。成佛為聖始，雙林入滅為聖終。只聖始則凡終，凡終則聖始也。

What are they? In the past, relying on the royal palace to be born was the ordinary beginning; attaining the path beneath the Bodhi tree was the ordinary end. Becoming a Buddha was the noble beginning; entering extinction in the twin śāla grove was the noble end. The noble beginning is simply the ordinary end, and the ordinary end is simply the noble beginning.
