1.81

三者高故名大。經云：譬如大山，一切世人所不能上，故名大山；涅槃亦爾，聲聞緣覺及諸菩薩所不能上，是故名大。

Third, it is named great because it is high. The sūtra says: “Like a great mountain that none of the worldly people can ascend, it is therefore called a great mountain; nirvāṇa is likewise, for śrāvakas, pratyekabuddhas, and all bodhisattvas cannot ascend it, and therefore it is named great.”
