問：十王果報應為第四禪主，何故一生所繫居知足也。五地菩薩定處何天？答：據因剋果，應為第四禪主；符下行化故，捨而居知足。五地剋果，位處知足之天，修行不定處一方，何必要居兜率？一生住此，五地化遊，亦不爽也。但說菩薩應受十位，非諸菩薩皆定受之，捨位修行隨利生故。

Question: The retributive fruit of the ten kings should be to become the lord of the fourth dhyāna; why then does one bound to one last birth reside in Tuṣita? In which heaven does a bodhisattva of the fifth ground definitely abide? Answer: If one determines the fruit based on the cause, he should be the lord of the fourth dhyāna; but to accord with going down below to carry out transformation, he renounces it to reside in Tuṣita. For the fifth ground determining its fruit, the position resides in the heaven of Tuṣita; in cultivating practices, one does not definitely abide in a single place, so why must he reside in Tuṣita? That [the bodhisattva] bound to one last birth dwells here while [the bodhisattva of] the fifth ground roams in transformation is also not contradictory. It is merely said that a bodhisattva is entitled to receive the ten positions, not that all bodhisattvas are definitively bound to receive them, since they renounce positions to cultivate practices in accordance with benefiting sentient beings.
