The Commentary says: Third, the transformation Buddhas teach the Dharma. Within this there are two: first, general; second, specific. This is the first. Because their bodies are distinct, they have 'different mouths'; because their speech is equal, they are 'in one voice'. 'Pure great bodhisattvas' refers to the tenth ground: because the causes are already perfected and the hindrances are also subtle, it is called 'pure'. Or, from the eighth ground and above, because all afflictions no longer arise, it is called 'pure'. Or, from the first ground and above, because they realize the principle of essential purity and can subdue all afflictions so that they do not arise altogether, it is called 'pure'. Among these three explanations, the first is complete attainment, the next is spontaneous and continuous attainment, and the last is partial realization; all are without contradiction. 'Profound' means subtle meaning. 'Inconceivable' means exceeding the discriminating mind and the path of speech. In Sanskrit it is dhāraṇī, here called 'comprehensive retention'. Mindfulness and wisdom are two faculties that generally contain the myriad virtues as their essential nature; by clearly recognizing, selecting, and distinctly remembering without forgetfulness, being able with a small summary to contain much and broad [teachings], they are called 'comprehensive retention'. 'Dharma' means teaching; it is because they teach that Dharma.
