The commentary says: Fifth, the benefits of birth there. In this there are two [points]: first, eradicating sins. Offense-kalpas of the Avīci Hell are reckoned by periods of increase and decrease; offense-kalpas elsewhere are reckoned by numbers of years. Ordinary beings in the final kalpa mostly engage in base and vulgar conduct; yet being able to transcend evil realms and aspire to that pure realm, their past merits are not exhausted and they are born in the upper grade. How much more so when the numinous radiance resides uniquely in the curl of light—if their minds single-mindedly and attentively contemplate it, how could they not transcend birth and death?
