經曰「爾時世尊於初夜分」以下，第二發起序。此中二：初現相召眾、後宣法獲利。初中亦二：初現相召眾、後覩相眾集。初中三：初放光召、次雨華召、後授記召。是初。

The sūtra stating 'At that time the World-Honoured One, in the first watch of the night' onward is the second part, the initiatory preface. Herein there are two: first, manifesting signs to summon the assembly; second, expounding the Dharma and obtaining benefit. The first part also has two: first, manifesting signs to summon the assembly; second, seeing the signs, the assembly gathers. In the first part there are three: first, summoning by emitting light; next, summoning by raining flowers; last, summoning by bestowing vyākaraṇa. This is the first.
