1.40

「『「若有畜生類，得聞諸佛名，
永離三惡道，不生八難處，
若聞法奉行，生處常值佛。
信法不疑惑，歸依賢聖僧，
隨順諸戒行，如是疾得佛，
必至大涅槃，常受無上樂。」

" ' "If there are beings of animal kind
Who get to hear the names of the Buddhas,
They will forever leave the three evil destinies
And not be born in the eight places of difficulty.
If they hear the Dharma and practice it accordingly,
In their places of rebirth they will always encounter Buddhas.
Believing in the Dharma without doubt,
Taking refuge in the worthy and noble Saṅgha,
And complying with all the practices of the precepts,
Like this they will swiftly attain Buddhahood,
Inevitably reach great nirvāṇa,
And constantly enjoy unsurpassable bliss." '
