經曰「爾時優婆離即從坐起」以下，第二辨內果莊勝。此中三：初發請、次廣答、後結勸生彼。是初請。請意有二：一問此沒、二問生彼。

Where the sūtra states, "At that time Upāli arose from his seat," onward: second, this explains the adorned excellence of the internal fruition. Within this there are three parts: first, making the request; second, extensively answering; and third, concluding by encouraging rebirth there. This is the first request. The intent of the request is twofold: first, inquiring about passing away here; and second, inquiring about rebirth there.
