From the text of the sūtra where it says, "In the circular halo around his body" onwards, this is the sixth [section], [explaining] the miraculous phenomena of the circular halo. "*Sanmei*" is a corrupt pronunciation; nowadays it is called *samādhi*, which is translated here as "equipoise." This implies that in the meaning of this passage, both the word and meaning of concentration and wisdom are brightly manifest. "Brightly manifest" is another name for brilliant and dazzling. "*Śūraṅgama*" is translated here as "valiant practice," and is attained only by Buddhas and bodhisattvas of the tenth ground. The *Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra* says: "It has five names: first, *śūraṅgama*; second, *prajñāpāramitā*; third, *vajra*; fourth, lion's roar; fifth, Buddha-nature. This means mental equipoise conforming to whatever is to be converted." Although it pervades all stages, here, because Maitreya signifies the stage of equal enlightenment, it is called *śūraṅgama*.
