肇曰：以四等法攝眾生，為四攝也。一者惠施，財法二施，隨彼所須。二者愛語，以愛心故和言，隨彼所適。三者利語，隨彼所利，方便利之。四者同事，遇惡同惡而斷其惡、遇善同善而進其善，故名同事也。

[Seng]zhao says: Embracing sentient beings with the four equal dharmas constitutes the four means of embracing. First is giving: the two givings of material wealth and Dharma, according to what they need. Second is affectionate speech: using harmonious words out of a loving mind, according to what suits them. Third is beneficial conduct: benefiting them through upāya according to what is advantageous to them. Fourth is sharing in their tasks: encountering evil, joining in evil so as to sever their evil; encountering good, joining in good so as to advance their goodness; hence it is called sharing in their tasks.
