什曰：若好雜句，應授之以文；若好深法，即誨之以義。要宜知其相，故為辯二相也。肇曰：行之深淺各有異相，得失兩陳以厲護持法者也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: If one is fond of miscellaneous phrasing, one should instruct them with the text; if one is fond of the profound Dharma, one should instruct them with the meaning. It is essential to know their marks; therefore he discerns the two marks for them. [Seng]zhao says: The depth or shallowness of practice each has a distinct mark; presenting both gain and loss serves to encourage those who protect and uphold the Dharma.
