什曰：智慧能持實相亦名持。餘持如《大智度論》中說也。肇曰：總持義同上。經云「有五百總持」，亦云「無量總持」也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: Wisdom being able to retain the true character [of dharmas] is also called dhāraṇī. The other dhāraṇīs are as explained in the Dazhidu lun. [Seng]zhao says: The meaning of dhāraṇī is the same as above. The sūtras say 'there are five hundred dhāraṇīs,' and also say 'immeasurable dhāraṇīs.'
