3.141

[Kumāra]jīva says: Form has no fixed characteristics; if one sees form as having far and near, subtle and coarse, that is making it into form. Making it into form is the eye of false delusion and inversion, and is therefore identical to non-Buddhists. If one does not make characteristics for form, form is unconditioned. If it is unconditioned, one should not see near and far. Yet claiming to see three thousand [worlds] from afar leaves one with nowhere to advance or retreat; thus he lost the assembly of the Brahmā gods and suffered defeat in the two dilemmas.

[Seng]zhao says: In the retribution bodies of the three realms, the faculties of the six senses arise from defilements and karma; this is called having conditioned marks. The dharmakāya transcends the three realms, and its six sense faculties do not arise from defilements and karma; this is called having unconditioned marks. Because having conditioning leaves something unmade, the unconditioned dharmakāya leaves nothing unmade.
