生曰：諸長者子本以貪樂存榮為懷，聞之更移其著，則乖出家利矣。於彼為不應，故言爾也。

[Dao]sheng says: The elders' sons originally harboured greed for pleasures and worldly glory; if hearing this only shifted their attachments, it would run contrary to the benefit of going forth. For them it was inappropriate, hence he said this.
