[Seng]zhao says: "The dharmakāya is unconditioned, yet there is nothing it does not do. Because there is nothing it does not do, it manifests a body with illness; because it is unconditioned, it does not fall into conditioned reckoning." [Dao]sheng says: "Although it is called undefiled, it might be conditioned. The conditioned is the dharma of arising and ceasing; though it is not the four great elements, it still constitutes an affliction. Since the Buddha has the undefiled as his substance and is moreover not conditioned, what illness could there be? If it were conditioned, it would fall into reckoning."
