3.75

生曰：為害之由，由乎謗佛毀法，斯人則為不入四眾數矣。順在親友之義，以歎佛譽法為體亦不異謗，故云謗也。

[Dao]sheng says: The cause of doing harm stems from slandering buddhas and defaming the Dharma; such a person does not enter the count of the four assemblies. In conforming [to the real], the principle of a close friend takes praising the buddhas and lauding the Dharma as its substance, yet it is not different from slander; hence it says 'slander'.
