4.134

什曰：或以事伏心、或以理伏心，今正觀則以無常等觀制伏其心也。肇曰：心之性也，強梁則觀邪，調伏則觀正也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: One may subdue the mind by phenomenal things, or one may subdue the mind by principle. Here, correct contemplation uses the contemplation of impermanence and so on to restrain and subdue one's mind. [Seng]zhao says: As for the nature of the mind, if it is obstinate, it contemplates wrongly; if it is tamed and subdued, it contemplates correctly.
