什曰：以彼佛威德殊勝、國土清淨，將欲發起眾會令生勝求，故先奉施後使其見也。
[Kumāra]jīva says: Because that Buddha's majestic virtue was preeminent and his land was pure, [Vimalakīrti] wished to inspire the assembly to give rise to supreme aspiration; thus he first made the offering and afterward caused them to see him.
