5.106
[Kumāra]jīva says: The previous reply that it is formless and cannot be seen is precisely expounding ultimate emptiness. According to words, it also seems as though an illness exists but is not seen; hence this question arises.
[Seng]zhao says: Some, hearing that the illness cannot be seen, might suppose that mental illness is formless and therefore cannot be seen; or some might suppose that physical illness is subtle and therefore cannot be seen; hence he raises the question on their behalf. With what matter is illness conjoined, in body or mind, that it is said to be invisible?
[Dao]sheng says: The body is the basis that receives illness, and the mind is the master that perceives pain; illness might conjoin with them so as to be formless. Therefore, borrowing this to inquire, he causes it to become clear that illness has nowhere to dwell, and only then is formlessness complete.
