[Kumāra]jīva says: 'Sensations' refers to the three sensations of pleasure, pain, and neutral sensation. If one can understand that sensation has nothing experienced, one can take rebirth for the sake of beings and endure the three sensations. [Dao]sheng says: 'Sensations' refers to the three sensations. Having contemplated the illness as empty, the three sensations are all non-existent. For one who is able to have no three sensations, the three sensations are naturally eliminated. It is not that he wishes to abandon them; hence he has the sentiment of entering sensation to transform beings.
