5.230

肇曰：若能善調其心不懷異想，而永處生死斷彼苦者，是菩薩菩提之道。若不能爾，其所修行，內未足為有慧、外未足為有利也。生曰：無慧利於物也。

[Seng]zhao says: "If one can skillfully discipline one's mind, harbouring no divergent thoughts, and dwell forever in saṃsāra to sever their suffering, this is the path of a bodhisattva's bodhi. If one cannot do so, what one cultivates will internally not suffice to possess wisdom, and externally will not suffice to bring benefit." [Dao]sheng says: "There will be no wisdom or benefit to beings."
