[Seng]zhao says: Abandoning wrong views is called liberation; turning away from liberation is called wrong views. Thus, the erroneous and liberation mutually contend, but what is their source? That which is their source is one and only one. Therefore, in seeking the wrong views, one must base them on liberation.
[Dao]sheng says: Liberation means being liberated from fetters and bonds. If retaining characteristics were not erroneous, it could not be discarded. Yet because it does not exist in liberation, we therefore know that for all views the principle is necessarily so. Mentioning "the buddhas" clarifies that the wondrous is necessarily identical.
