6.176

什曰：惡法生則滅之，未起不令生也。善法不滅，令其增廣也。生曰：念力而觀為造理之初，始是制惡就善者。

[Kumāra]jīva says: If unwholesome dharmas arise, one extinguishes them; what has not yet arisen is prevented from arising. That wholesome dharmas do not cease means causing them to increase and broaden. [Dao]sheng says: Contemplating through the power of mindfulness is the beginning of approaching principle, which is initially checking the bad and pursuing the good.
