肇曰:若以心動為本,則因有有相生。理極初動更無本也。若以無法為本,則有因無生,無不因無,故更無本也。生曰:無住即是無本之理也。

[Seng]zhao says: If the movement of the mind is taken as the fundamental basis, then cause and effect arise from each other. When the principle reaches the ultimate, the initial movement has no further fundamental basis. If the absence of dharmas is taken as the fundamental basis, then existence arises from non-existence; non-existence does not arise from non-existence, so there is no further fundamental basis. [Dao]sheng says: Non-abiding is precisely the principle of having no fundamental basis.
