6.218
[Kumāra]jīva says: Like a rākṣasa that transformed itself into a horse, and a gentleman rode it without suspicion. Midway, the horse asked the gentleman, "Is this horse good?" The gentleman drew his sword, showed it, and asked, "Is this sword good?" Knowing that his mind was upright and without fear, it dared not harm him after all. If he were not like that, non-human beings would take advantage of him. [Dao]sheng says: When one is terrified, one's disposition is already weak, and thus they take advantage.
