7.100

什曰：菩薩如來通名導師。以新學謂其未離受生，應有父母。今欲顯其以法化生、絕於受身，故答之以法也。生曰：菩薩以上至佛也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: Bodhisattvas and tathāgatas are universally called guides. Because beginner students think they have not left behind taking rebirth and must have parents, he now wishes to reveal that they are born through Dharma-transformation and have severed bodily rebirth; hence he answers in terms of the Dharma. [Dao]sheng says: This refers from the bodhisattvas upward to the buddhas.
