什曰：處非不捨其本則勝習愈明，故不待聞而後說也。肇曰：聲聞不從人聞不能自悟，況能為人說所未聞。

[Kumāra]jīva says: By abiding in what is inappropriate without abandoning their fundamental basis, their superior habituation becomes all the clearer; thus they do not wait to hear before expounding. [Seng]zhao says: If śrāvakas do not hear from others, they cannot realize awakening themselves—how much less could they preach to others what has not been heard?
