7.4

什曰：因上章天女隨願受身流通佛法，故廣圓應之迹以明通達之功也。肇曰：上云諸佛之道以無得為得，此道虛玄非常行之所通。通之必有以，故問所以通也。生曰：應化無方為佛之道，既能體之，為通達矣。

[Kumāra]jīva says: Because in the previous chapter the goddess assumed bodies according to her vows to propagate the Buddha Dharma, he broadens the manifest traces of perfect responsiveness to clarify the efficacy of penetration. [Seng]zhao says: Above it was said that the path of the buddhas takes non-attainment as attainment; this path is void and subtle, not what ordinary practice penetrates. Penetrating it must have its means, so he asks about how it is penetrated. [Dao]sheng says: Responsive transformation without fixed direction is the path of the buddhas; when one can embody it, that is penetration.
