7.56

什曰：自相遇以來維摩獨說，似是辯慧之功偏有所歸。今令彼說，欲顯其德者也。亦云推美以為供養也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: Since their encounter, Vimalakīrti has been speaking alone, making it seem as though the achievement of eloquent wisdom belonged to one side only. Now he prompts the other to speak, wishing to make his virtues manifest. It is also said that he defers to his excellence as an act of making an offering.
