[Seng]zhao says: What the masters above clarified was the same, but the grounds on which they relied differed; moreover, they directly distinguished the marks of dharmas and did not clarify wordlessness. Now Mañjuśrī summarizes the explanations of the various masters to open the gate of non-duality, directly stating that the marks of dharmas cannot be spoken of, without applying words to the marks of dharmas. For words to be such is the utmost of words. Yet compared to silent stillness, it is still second. [Dao]sheng says: The preceding bodhisattvas each spoke of the meaning of non-duality, appearing as if there were a non-duality that could be spoken of. If there were a non-duality that could be spoken of, it would again be a non-duality contrasted with duality; therefore, Mañjuśrī clarifies that only having nothing that can be spoken of is non-duality.
