9.148

什曰：取其能生法身也。亦云子有所須則咨之父母，菩薩所須則求之六度，取其饒益，比之父母也。肇曰：餘四度行轉深，法身之所由生，故想為父母也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: This is taken from the fact that they can give birth to the dharmakāya. It is also said that when children have needs, they consult their parents; when a bodhisattva has needs, they seek them from the six pāramitās. Taking their bountiful benefit, they are compared to father and mother. [Seng]zhao says: The practice of the remaining four pāramitās becomes progressively deeper, and they are that from which the dharmakāya is born; therefore they are regarded as parents.
