9.194

什曰：以不堪受道，故為說法也。肇曰：不為福報修善，名為善淨。然為物受報，報在欲界人天也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: Because [sentient beings] cannot bear to receive the Way directly, one expounds this Dharma for them. [Seng]zhao says: Practicing good without seeking retribution in blessings is called 'pure good'. Yet for the sake of beings one receives retribution, and the retribution is among the humans and devas of the desire realm.
