肇曰：不此而同此，故此而不此。不彼而同彼，故彼而不彼。豈復以此而同此、以彼而同彼乎？此明聖心無有以而同也。生曰：雖云不在此不在彼，或復可以此彼之跡化之矣。此彼是眾生所取，非佛以也。

[Seng]zhao says: Not being this yet identifying with this, it is therefore this yet not this. Not being that yet identifying with that, it is therefore that yet not that. How could it identify with this by means of this, or identify with that by means of that? This clarifies that the holy mind has no 'by means of' with which it identifies. [Dao]sheng says: Although it is said to be neither here nor there, it may also transform them by means of the traces of here and there. 'This' and 'that' are what sentient beings grasp; they are not what the Buddha uses as means.
