9.36

什曰：佛直居宗靜默，令菩薩弘道以化人也。肇曰：有佛默然居宗，以菩薩為化主也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: The Buddha simply abides in the central seat in quietude, causing the bodhisattvas to propagate the Path in order to convert people. [Seng]zhao says: There are buddhas who silently abide in the central seat, taking bodhisattvas as the masters of conversion.
