[Seng]zhao says: To gather people by physical direction cannot be achieved in a single breath; to relieve beings with material wealth cannot be accomplished comprehensively at one time. Therefore, one whose comprehensive integration is boundless encompasses all without omission; one whose rain of Dharma is secretly bestowed covers all without changing time. Thus he can treat the boundlessness as a single assembly so that the Way enriches all, and keeping the mind empty while harboring virtue, the myriad beings naturally yield allegiance. Why cling to the petty favor of moistening with foam and abandon the great benefit of the rivers and seas, setting aside the instantaneous Dharma offering to arrange a mundane giving of before and after?
