[Seng]zhao says: "The five hundred disciples were all incompetent, so he again commanded the bodhisattvas, in order to fully demonstrate the Spotless Name's virtues that are difficult to match." [Dao]sheng says: "Maitreya is a Brahmin clan name. Although he was born in Tuṣita as a teacher of all the devas, he is still called by his original clan name. Because he personally received the transmission as the Buddha's disciple, it is also fitting that his dispatch should precede the other bodhisattvas."
