「彼時」下，第三大段，明其徒眾雲集所為。於中初明佛與諸眾圍繞說法。說何等法？文中不辨，不知說何。下明如來於眾獨勝，「譬如須彌顯於大海」，喻說顯勝。高顯獨出在於大海，名顯于大海。「蔽於諸眾」，合以顯勝。

From "At that time" onward is the third major section, explaining the purpose for which the multitude of disciples gathered like clouds. Therein, it first explains that the Buddha was surrounded by the assemblies and preached the Dharma. What kind of Dharma did he preach? The text does not specify, so it is not known what was preached. Below, it explains that the Tathāgata was uniquely supreme among the assembly: "like Mount Sumeru emerging from the great ocean" uses a simile to show his supremacy. Towering high and standing out alone in the great ocean is what is meant by "emerging from the great ocean." "Outshining the assemblies" uses a synthesis to show his supremacy.
