In the second [point], rebuking him for expounding contrary to their faculties: "You cannot know the root source of sentient beings" rebukes him for not knowing their faculties. From "Do not arouse" onwards stops him from conferring the small. "Do not arouse them with the Hīnayāna teaching" stops him through a doctrinal statement. "They themselves have no wound; do not hurt them" stops him through an analogy. Those monks were fully possessed of great faculties, which is called "having no wound". Teaching them the small harms and diminishes them, which is referred to as "hurting" them. He obstructs and does not permit it, hence he says, "do not hurt them."
