Fifth, as for identity in partial realization of the real: from the initial aspiration attaining anutpattika-dharma-kṣānti up to the vajroparama, the forty-one grounds are all called partial realization. Why is this? As the Avataṃsaka Sūtra says: 'At the time of initial aspiration, one immediately attains correct enlightenment, thoroughly penetrates the true nature of all dharmas, and whatever body of wisdom one has is not awakened through others.' This is identity in partial realization of the real. Up to the ten grounds and virtual enlightenment, all are partial realization; there are only differences of depth and shallowness, and therefore there are stages of the various grounds.
