Answer: At first glance it is so, but if one traces their primary intent, their meanings are not the same. In '[the siddhānta] for the person', evil is new and goodness is old; in 'the therapeutic [siddhānta]', evil is old and goodness is new. In '[the siddhānta] for the person', new evil is easily extinguished: when expounded to them, it ceases; their past goodness is profound, and it naturally unfolds. In 'the therapeutic [siddhānta]', old evil is hard to eliminate, and new goodness is weak; if one does not apply the practice of antidotes, the evil dharmas will not be extinguished.
