三、明行菩薩道勤修止觀者，若知生死即涅槃，即是善修止也；若知煩惱即菩提，即是善修觀也。如陰陽調適，萬物長成。若巧修止觀，即能一心具萬行也。

Third, explaining the diligent cultivation of cessation and contemplation while practicing the bodhisattva path: if one knows that birth and death is itself nirvāṇa, this is properly cultivating cessation; if one knows that affliction is itself bodhi, this is properly cultivating contemplation. It is like the harmonious balance of yin and yang, through which the ten thousand things grow to maturity. If one skillfully cultivates cessation and contemplation, then a single mind will contain the myriad practices.
