五、住一生補處者，即是釋迦菩薩生迦葉佛所，作補處弟子，淨持禁戒，行諸功德，迦葉佛授記，次當作佛。今謂此猶是中忍之位也。

Fifth, abiding in the stage of being bound to one more birth: this is when the Bodhisattva Śākyamuni was born in the presence of Kāśyapa Buddha, became a disciple bound to the next birth, purely maintained the prohibitive precepts, practiced all merits, and received the prediction from Kāśyapa Buddha that he would next become a buddha. We now maintain that this is still the stage of medium forbearance.
