Seventh, clarifying the ground of marvelous enlightenment: ultimate liberation, unsurpassed buddha-wisdom; hence it is said: "One who has nothing left to sever is called the unsurpassed person." This is the ultimate final mind, the three virtues neither vertical nor horizontal, the great nirvāṇa. "Great nirvāṇa" is called the dharma-realm of all buddhas, vertically profound and horizontally vast, capable of employing the twenty-five samādhis to universally transform sentient beings; concealing and manifesting in ten turns to benefit beings, ultimately and universally complete. Just as with a great tree, if its roots are exceedingly deep, its branches are also great. When the wisdom of the true mark exhausts the source and penetrates the nature, its efficacy in transformative functioning then fills the dharma-realm; its boundless great functioning is ultimately and perfectly consummate. Hence the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa says: "The great path of the perfection of wisdom is where buddhas come from; the deep ocean of the perfection of wisdom is where buddhas reach the bottom." The Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā Sūtra says: "Beyond ḍha, there is no letter that can be spoken." The Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra says: "Non-arising and non-arising cannot be spoken." If one demarcates the stages in this way, all the grounds following the previous thirty minds are the stages of no sequence of stages, which are inconceivable, quiescent true suchness and the equanimous dharma-realm.
