第二、明格位者，即為三意：一，約三藏教位，格後三教；二，約通教位，格後二教；三，約別教位，格後圓教。

Second, clarifying the grading of stages: this comprises three points: first, grading the subsequent three teachings according to the stages of the Tripiṭaka teaching; second, grading the subsequent two teachings according to the stages of the shared teaching; third, grading the subsequent perfect teaching according to the stages of the distinctive teaching.
